Education:

Master of Science Engineer in Environmental Engineering Systems, specialisation: technical meteorology

Interest in Scientific and Professional Matters:

  • Wind energy: wind flow modelling in complex topography, short-term energy output forecast for wind turbines,
  • Integration of renewable energy sources with an energy system.
  • Managing science and innovations

My Major Tasks at the Institute:

  • Cooperation with the Director in the preparation of the Institute’s development strategy,
  • Coordination of projects and preparation of grant proposals. Supervision over market and feasibility studies,
  • Supervision over wind measurements and their analysis,
  • Maintaining contact with customers in partners in the wind energy sector.

Sample projects coordinated by myself and/or those I participated in:

  • COD – Concerted Action Offshore Wind Energy Deployment (5 PR UE)
  • RECEPOL WP2 - Support for “Wind Energy Development Programme for Poland for 2002-2005” in the area of research concerning optimisation of wind energy use in Poland (5PR UE)
  • POLYCITY – Energy Networks in Sustainable Cities (6 PR UE “CONCERTO”)
  • POWWOW – Prediction of Waves, Wakes and Offshore Wind (6 PR UE)

Other Interesting Things Done by Myself Recently:

  • Prepared a project titled ‘Development Programme for Wind Energy in Poland for 2002-2005,’
  • Took part in drafting the ‘Renewable Energy Sources Utilisation Act,’
  • Erected measuring masts in the Suwałki county,
  • Compared various methods of evaluation of wind conditions in Polish climate conditions,
  • Tried to convince (with mixed effects) self-government representatives that it is worth planning the development of the wind energy sector reasonably and the power engineers that wind farms will not ruin the Polish power engineering system.

Additional Functions:

  • Coordinator of the ‘Wind Energy’ subnetwork within the framework of the ‘Sustainable Energy Systems’ Polish National Scientific Network,
  • Evaluator of projects entered into competitions under the 6th Framework Programme as part of short- and medium-term action (DG TREN),
  • Expert of the Maritime Office in Gdynia in location of offshore wind farms.

The most interesting comment I have heard at work:

It is good you have started working in wind energy . . . . In which other job would you have a chance to be licked by a cow? (Robert C. Putnam)
