The Institute for Renewable Energy presented at a press conference the tenth-anniversary edition of the report "Photovoltaic Market in Poland 2022". Every year, it publishes current analyses of the PV market and its development prospects. The report is a complete summary of the state and trends in the photovoltaic market in Poland. It is prepared in cooperation with companies from the industry. Partners of this year's report are BayWa r.e., mBank, Soltec and Alseva, Corab, OX2, PCWO Energy, Polenergia Fotowoltaika.
As a result of regulatory changes and rising electricity prices, 2021 ended with spectacular success for the PV industry. The installed photovoltaic capacity at the end of 2021 was 7.6 GW and the growth of new capacity was over 3.7 GW (the market growth rate exceeded 105%). As in previous years, a considerable contribution was made by individual prosumers (almost 80% market share). The auction system also brought measurable effects - the first gigawatt of capacity in photovoltaic farms is already feeding energy into the grid.

Institute for Renewable Energy (IEO) in cooperation with an international consortium is starting a project called ComBioTES concerning the demonstration in Poland, France, Denmark and China of compact heat storage for buildings using RES-based electro-heating. Buildings belonging to prosumers are considered, as well as those using dynamic tariffs for green electricity or heat purchased from the grid. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, coordinated by the Research Centre for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies (CEA) of Grenoble, France.

The Institute of Renewable Energy begins work on the next edition of the report Photovoltaic Market in Poland 2022. This year, it will be the 10th anniversary edition. The report will once again be based on market research conducted by the Institute among key representatives of the PV industry, its own analyses and external data, e.g. from the Energy Regulatory Office (URE), Polish Transmission Grid Operator (Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne) and cross-sectional international reports.

The Institute for Renewable Energy (IEO) is leading the project "Transition of Georgian regions and communities towards a sustainable energy future" - PV for Georgian Cities. The project is sponsored by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and is being implemented in agreement with the Government of Georgia, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Poland (MSZ) and Ministry of Economic Development and Technology (MRiT). The aim of the project is to promote the use of solar energy and to implement photovoltaic (PV) technology in five Georgian cities.

Cumulated power installed in photovoltaics in Poland
According to the data of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE), the installed power in photovoltaics at the end of 2020 was 3,935.74 MW. This means an increase of 2,463 MW year on year. That is, the installed power in photovoltaics increased by 200% during the year. The market structure remains unchanged - 75% are micro-installations, and PV farms 21%. However, according to IEO forecasts, a change in the market structure will start from this year and solar farms will constitute an increasing percentage of the total installed power.
